AYURVEDA is the traditional Indian system of medicine, which has
been in existence for more than 5000 years and still practiced widely. The word
Ayurveda is derived from two Sanskrit words; AYUR meaning LIFE and VEDA meaning
KNOWLEDGE. Thus Ayurveda is the science of life. The relevance of Ayurvedic
treatments is that people who are ill can get cured by Ayurvedic treatments and
Ayurveda medicines, and healthy people can improve their life quality by means
of Ayurveda therapies and by following the guidelines of ancient Ayurveda. The
specialty and uniqueness of Ayurveda & Panchakarma treatments at Mitra Hermitage
Ayurveda Residency is that it offers individualized Ayurveda treatments
according to the persons condition and body contitution. Specialized Ayurvedic
medicines and Ayurvedic oils are prepared in our pharmacy which has been in
existence since 96 years.
Panchakarma
To achieve a balanced state of body, mind and
consciousness, Ayurveda prescribes Panchakarma Therapy for the cleansing of body
toxins. Pancha in Sanskrit means five as the name says, Panchakarma means five
types of Ayurvedic therapeutic measures. These Ayurveda procigiers are
undertaken for the purification of the body channels and Ayurveda considers it
necessary before the start of any other Ayurveda therapy. Panchakarma, which
includes five major procedures, is meant to purify the whole body by eliminating
the accumulated toxins from it. This package includes Ayurveda treatments like
Virechana (Purgation), Vamana (Emesis), Snehavasthi (Medicated Oil Enema),
Kashayavasti (medicated decoction enema) & Nasya (Nasal Administration). This
Ayurveda treatment can be administered both to a healthy, as well as the
diseased person. When a healthy person subjects himself to Panchakarma, it has a
preventive, restorative and rejuvenative effect on the body.
Yoga, Ayurveda & Meditation
Yoga, the spiritual branch of Ayurveda is derived from the word
YOGAM or UNION, relating to the union of body and mind. Yoga presents a system
that creates a state of unification of mental processes and consciousness. Yoga
not only describes all mental states, aspects and dimensions possible within the
individual, but also advocates practical games to be played with the mind to
control its functioning and to achieve peace. The life style regimens mentioned
in Yoga are integral to Ayurvedic treatments. The Yoga, with the rhythm of the
body, the melody of the mind and the harmony of the soul, creates the symphony
of life. There are various Asanas that help to attain this rhythm. Integral part
of Yoga is Meditation, an antidote to the excessive stress of modern life
resulting in health problems. It helps retrain response mechanisms so that we
don't react as strongly or as negatively to adverse situations. Meditation
emboldens body's immune system, wards off diseases and enables quick recovery
from illnesses. Meditation helps mould a mind healthy, alert, positive, and
calm. This, in turn, produces a body filled with vitality and health. Meditation
practiced at MITRA Hermitage Ayurveda Residency complements the cleansing
process and gives a light feeling on the mind and body by giving more PRANA or
life force energy. |
