The Mitra hermitage lies on the outskirts of trivandrum city. Usually the area is very calm and quite; you can hear the wind, birds and the sound of the waves when the sea is rough. On the west side beyond the river lies edayar island which is less inhabited and it is a good nesting for birds. Your wakeup call can be from this active bird life. Some of the houses around us have cows, goat, hens, ducks etc. In the evenings you can hear soft temple music. Trivandrum airport lies 8 km from us and at times you can be distracted by the flights on their descending path. We repeat the place is calm and quite. But this is incredible india…….

We are equipped with a four-fold water filtering system which delivers microbe-free water even in our taps. We take pain to keep Mitra Hermitage as eco-friendly as possible by installing bio-gas plant and solar water heaters.

At Mitra Hermitage, we have arranged the ideal environs for you to enjoy a comfortable stay. The home-made "Trinity Cottages" includes three non-air conditioned independent bungalows built of natural materials on the river front and there are two spacious rooms amidst an herbal and vegetable garden. All the 3 bungalows are built according to the VASTHU ( Indian Feng Shui ) principles and the private balconies present open out to allow fresh wind to pass through the rooms.
